Does your child want to:

  • Work with professional facilitators to develop skills in music, drama, movement and more?
  • Meet other home educated children?
  • Have the chance to improvise, compose, and choreograph?
  • Develop self-confidence, communication skills, creativity, team and leadership abilities?
  • Have fun?

Our highly subsidised weekly sessions provide a range of performing arts workshops to home-educated children in West Devon.

Each half term will have a slightly different mixture of workshops. These may include music, drama, dance, puppetry, set design, circus skills, script writing and more.

In the Spring Term 2024 we are delighted to have music workshops led by Becki Driscoll and drama workshops led by Rachel Shacklock.

Becki Driscoll, from RootNotes, will lead music workshops exploring a range of music activities. Participants will be learning songs, trying out different instruments, forming a band, as well as songwriting and composition.

Rachel Shacklock, an actor and experienced theatre teacher, will lead children on a creative adventure filled with drama games and performance skills.

Sparks is run by Kindle the Spark Hub CIC, to provide enrichment opportunities for home educated children. The community interest company was set up by three home-ed mums in 2023, to address a lack of affordable music and drama classes for children who don’t attend school. The highly subsidised Sparks sessions have been made possible by a grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.
